Panagoulas: The energy management “tools” that make sustainable and competitive enterprises
Athanasios Panagoulas, CEO οf DTWISE, during his energypress’ interview mentioned that optimal energy management is a critical issue for the sustainable business development, especially when combined with cost reduction and simultaneous increased efficiency.
In particular, he stated : “In the era of Industry 4.0 this digital transformation is necessary for the operating data analysis, in order to obtain valuable information and therefore the ability to redesign either a production line or our logistics and gain the critical comparative advantage.”
As he mentioned, the results of DTWISE solutions prove the above mentioned, signaling the change of data management era.
The full interview follows in detail:
Tell us a few words about your company’s objective.
DTWISE operates since 2015, developing advanced Big Data Analytics and Industry 4.0 applications that facilitate energy efficiency, multi-level operation monitoring, automation, interconnection, interoperability and digital transformation. It is a rapidly growing industry that will reach a $ 45 billion turnover worldwide, by 2020.
In the next coming years, every company that seeks to streamline its operation and sustainability, must adopt such services, practices and know-how to achieve huge benefits for its shareholders and the environment.
What do we imply by the terms “Data Management”, “Inter-connectivity” and “Digital Transformation”?
Rational energy management is one of the most powerful tools for sustainable business development, especially when combined with cost reduction and increased efficiency. For this to happen, data must be extracted and analyzed from various types of devices, sensors and meters, then they must be uploaded to the cloud and processed in real time. Afterwards, a series of interactive actions will follow through machine learning tools in a way that enables the user not only to monitor the overall performance of his facilities and equipment, but also to obtain complete control, even via a mobile device.
These solutions are fully extensible in many other functions beyond energy consumption. In the age of Industry 4.0 this digital transformation is necessary for the operating data analysis, in order to obtain valuable information and therefore the ability to redesign either a production line or our logistics and gain the critical comparative advantage.
DTWISE solutions basically indicate the change of data management era. The currently fragmented systems of monitoring and control did not have the ability to integrate all components and KPIs into a single application. With our solutions all individual systems communicate with each other through a common platform that processes data in real time, ensuring complete control and optimization of the facilities’ and production lines’ operation.
We have developed “WiseWatch” Suite for facilities’ energy management in a way that converts energy data into infographics and automated reports which give direct and clear information to the user. Moreover, they indicate all the actions that need to be taken through the recommendation engine that we have developed for this purpose.
Do you already have any results in your projects?
We have worked with Aluminum Recycling industries, pharmaceutical companies, shopping malls, office buildings, logistics companies, road networks and electricity producers.
The average savings we have achieved for our industrial customers reach 9% while in commercial buildings it reaches 27%, achieving more than 15% in overall average savings in all sectors. We have accomplished an ROI of less than 30 months in 75% of the cases, while we have saved circa 5 million euros for our clients, so far.
The results are spectacular, as “WiseWatch” Suite for facilities’ energy management allows the user to immediately identify the “weak points” with high-energy consumption, while it helps to have a clear perception of his facilities due to “human behavior”, through behavioral analysis.
The user can therefore know in advance the exact energy impact of each intervention through the information provided by our specialized reports.
What other products DTWISE offers?
In addition to the “WiseWatch” Suite, we have developed “WiseFuel Distributor”, an innovative logistics software that automates tracking, delivery and management of both liquid products and fuels. Furthermore, we created “Legacy Equipment Smartification” to transform old elevator systems, escalators and deep-freezing units into more reliable ones. In other words, we perform analysis of data acquired from special measuring instruments in order to optimize the equipment maintenance through performance measurements and therefore ensure their longevity.
We also provide support services to facilities of all scales in order to achieve -per case- goals either in terms of energy or automation.
What are your plans for the near future?
Our clients’ portfolio has been already expanded with our strategic cooperation with Elpedison, the largest alternative energy provider in Greece, in the Energy Monitoring & Management services in both commercial & industrial sector.
We are also preparing a cooperation with some of the most important Elevators & Escalators’ vendors to strengthen the “Legacy Equipment Smartification”. We also want to accelerate our penetration in Gas Utilities and the distribution network.
Additionally, we plan to invest in R&D for even more advanced Artificial Intelligence & Control algorithms, a goal that will be served by the participation of uni.fund in our share capital, but also by developing of strong synergies in consulting and information technology field.
